Organisation of African Youth (OAYouth) is a continental, member-based, non-profit organisation registered in 11 countries and operating with 35 chapters in Africa. OAYouth is an empowerment vehicle and a revolutionary movement for all youth in Africa. It is a regional platform for young people to assert their power in numbers, energy and imagination to transform Africa to be a beacon of hope. OAYouth works to motivate, unify and empower African youth to be drivers of Africa’s social, political and economic transformation. Through structured programs, OAYouth harnesses resources and ideas to empower tomorrow’s leaders today.
We focus on the following key strategic areas;

A glimpse of ongoing projects initiated by OAYouth Kenya
Kenya faces significant environmental and climate-related challenges. A country-wide context assessment reveals that, despite a growing awareness (53%) of climate change, 83% of Kenyans who are aware believe the situation is worsening. Yet, meaningful community engagement in climate action remains limited. Kenya's National Climate Change Action Plan (NCCAP) aims to address these issues, but there are gaps in community inclusion, particularly at the grassroots level. Issues such as high youth unemployment, limited educational access to climate knowledge, and barriers to effective waste management in urban and rural areas exacerbate these challenges. Read More
Tunza Bora for the past two years through focusing on strengthening Daycare Centres has supported 43 daycares to deliver affordable, accessible, standardised, and high-quality childcare services in Nairobi and Kisumu Counties, while simultaneously creating job opportunities for Young women age 18-35 years and providing a supportive environment that empowered vulnerable young women in the informal settlements to return to work and or pursue their academic careers knowing that their children were in safe hands. Our World, Our Planet is an Erasmus+ initiative empowering youth from Italy, Austria, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda to address global challenges like climate change and gender inequality. Through virtual exchanges, training, and advocacy, the project equips young people to become change-makers for a sustainable and equitable future. Focusing on vulnerable communities disproportionately affected by these issues, the initiative bridges local challenges and global action by providing young people with the platforms and resources needed to lead solutions. The SUN Youth Network-Kenya is part of the global Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) movement, launched in 2010 to combat malnutrition. Kenya joined in 2012, forming six networks, including the Youth Network, which empowers youth-led organizations to advocate for nutrition and food security. Guided by SUN principles and aligned with global agendas, the Network promotes learning, healthy habits, youth participation in food systems, and partnerships for equity and wellbeing. With youth comprising 75% of Kenya's population, malnutrition remains a significant challenge. The Network focuses on mainstreaming youth involvement in sustainable food systems and addressing social and nutritional challenges. Anchored in Kenya’s Youth Development Policy and Vision 2030, it advances collaborative efforts toward a malnutrition-free future. Read More
