Salim Juma- Youth Champion Against Sexual Harassment in Public Transport Spaces with OAY Kenya
My name is Salim Juma, 29 years of age and currently living in Githurai 44 ward, Roysambu subcounty. I’m a community health worker, Gender Equality champion, peer educator & sexual reproductive Health Advocate Since the year 2015. I have been volunteering in the community through youth and community based organization. Currently I’m a member of a youth group based in Githurai known as The Link empowerment initiative. My main responsibilities in the organization is to execute the group’s activity that include, community mobilization, creating awareness, Conducting and facilitating peer education, planning and organizing of events as well as identifying those in need of our services especially the GBV department. I have good facilitation skills, and I’m a team leader. Having an experience of more than five years I have been able to tackle and report a number of GBV related cases. I’m passionate about my job and would love to continue serving the community in order to archive the SDGs.
I got the chance to volunteer with OAYouth Kenya as a champion Against sexual harassment in public transport spaces. Out of the engagement it is evident that both men and women go through sexual harassments and the stakeholders involve need to take action so that women and men can leave in a safe world.
