The Council is made up of 9 members including CSOs youth leaders from Nairobi, Kwale and Isiolo, representative of EU Youth Sounding Board and National Youth Council under State Department of Youth, with OAY as Co-Chair being the Secretariat.
Programmatic area: Environment and Climate Change
As a semi-automatous youth led platform, OAY works with the Kenya Climate Youth Advisory Council to oversee and coordinate advocacy efforts on climate action, waste management and related environment and public health issues.
The Council has already;
Successfully influenced the Kenya Business Process Outsourcing Policy and currently
participation in three other policy processes.
Secured commitment from the Treasury to prioritize youth funding under FLOCCA project
during devolution conference with OAY successfully included in expanded FLOCCA CSOs
communication platform.
Secured several commitments on collaboration in hosting Youth Climate Action Innovation Summit
Youth led advocacy under Nairobi Green microsite has led to increased garbage collection in Eastlands of Nairobi and setting up of more dustbins
Secured seat in one the Technical Working Groups under Ministry of Labour
Nominated by Kenya National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) to the technical
committee for planning the 2026 World Environmental Day
