The Youth engage and take action on SRHR Project

The project’s overall goal was to mobilize, build capacity and amplify voices of young people in Uganda, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Kenya to advocate for and demand from policy makers and duty bearers improved access to quality and youth friendly contraceptive services and information as a sexual reproductive right. This project was implemented through the SheDecides Alliance made up of very dynamic youth led and youth serving organizations from Uganda, Kenya, Malawi and Zimbabwe. The four oganizations include; Uganda Youth and Adolescents Health Forum – Uganda, My Age Trust – Zimbabwe, Her Liberty – Malawi and Organization of Africa Youth – Kenya.

Youth and Universal Health Coverage (UHC)

The Organization of African Youth (OAY) has been engaging young people as rights holders and County Governments through the Ministries of Health as duty bearers in the five pilot Counties of; Machakos, Kajiado, Nairobi, Nyeri and Kiambu, on issues of prioritization of Adolescent and Youth Friendly Spaces (AYFS) as a primary health care package within Universal Health Care (UHC).

Advocating for Change for Adolescents

Partnership for Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (The Partnership) worked in close collaboration to provide support and assistance to OAYouth Kenya and other members of the PMNCH’s Adolescents and Youth Constituency in the pilot phase and most recently the launch of the Advocating for Change for Adolescents! 2.0 toolkit (the toolkit) in December 2018. The youth-led organizations implementing the project are in YP Foundation (India), HeRLiberty Foundation (Malawi), Education as a Vaccine (Nigeria), Cameroon Youth Network(Cameroon) and Organization of African Youth(Kenya).
