01 Summary

OAY offers volunteerism, attachment and internship opportunities for youth to enhance their skills, competence, and networking and get opportunity to practice what they learn in college. This is currently offered in Nairobi and Kisumu office through practical mentorship, guidance and assignments to co-lead projects.

04 Impacts

  1. In 2020, OAY signed a 5 year agreement with World University Service of Canada to access national and global professionals and experts to shadow the youth volunteers
  2. By 2026, over 35 youth have gone through the Ujuzi attachment and internship programmme
  3. By 2026, 60% of the graduates of the program have secured jobs while four have secured scholarships for graduate studies outside Kenya.
  4. Two beneficiaries represent African youth in the global youth platforms.
  5. By 2022, over 500 adolescents and youth have benefited from the programme through peer mentorship and life skills development
  6. By 2026, 4 beneficiaries have set up and run community based organizations ; and currently running initiatives aimed at solving their community problems
  7. By 2026 , 4 beneficiaries have set up and run for profit companies as entrepreneurs
  8. By 2022, over 15 beneficiaries have been trained and engaged as research associates, and Trainers of Trainers (ToTs)/Facilitators by OAY and other organizations
