The Youth engage and take action on SRHR Project

The project’s overall goal was to mobilize, build capacity and amplify voices of young people in Uganda, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Kenya to advocate for and demand from policy makers and duty bearers improved access to quality and youth friendly contraceptive services and information as a sexual reproductive right. This project was implemented through the SheDecides Alliance made up of very dynamic youth led and youth serving organizations from Uganda, Kenya, Malawi and Zimbabwe. The four oganizations include; Uganda Youth and Adolescents Health Forum – Uganda, My Age Trust – Zimbabwe, Her Liberty – Malawi and Organization of Africa Youth – Kenya.

01 Summary

In alignment to target 3.7 of Goal 3 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and with the strategic and financial support by HIVOS East Africa under the project “youth engage and take action on SRHR project, the Organization of African Youth Kenya (OAY) has been engaging adolescent, young people and duty bearers in Kisumu county on issues of prioritization on Adolescent and Youth Friendly Spaces (AYFS) as a primary health care package within UHC from May to December 2019. The project was guided by a strategy meeting which was organized pursuant to implementation activities with the youth, adolescents and the County on UHC towards “enhancing meaningful engagement, awareness and access to youth and adolescent responsive health care. The HIVOS project was implemented guided by four key components named; (1) Mapping of Organizations, (2) Research, (3) Capacity Building and (4) Advocacy, implemented in three sub counties of Seme, Muhoroni and Kisumu East of the larger County of Kisumu.
