Esther Aoko-Championing Against Sexual Harassment with OAY

Esther Aoko is a sexual and reproductive health youth advocate and a community volunteer. She is a champion for women which she believes is her most important role in life. Esther is currently working as the communications officer at Positive Young Women Voices where she also co-leads a mentorship program for adolescent girls and young women. She is using her position to create awareness on Gender Based Violence through social media platforms. Esther has taken part in various community outreaches and dialogues that were intended to educate the members of the community on the different types of gender based violence, their effects and possible ways of curbing this social ill. She has great community mobilization and sensitization skills, social media advocacy skills and peer training. She has three years’ worth of experience in the Sexual and Reproductive Health advocacy field. The 21-year-old has been selected to participate in various programs like My Sisters Keeper and Husika programs by Emerging Leaders Foundation. She has also had the privilege of attending various conferences and presenting her abstracts. She has a certificate in Date Science and she is currently studying Computer science at the Institute of Advanced Technology. Esther envisions a world where people in all their diversities are able to enjoy their lives free from any form of violence. Esther Aoko commits to continue sharing information about Sexual and Gender Based Violence through her social medial platforms, writing articles and participating in community outreaches and campaigns.
Esther volunteered with OAYouth Kenya as a champion against sexual harassment in public transport spaces. She commits to fighting the vice and see women and men are safe when travelling and even walking in the streets.
