SCALING UP NUTRITION YOUTH NETWORK PROJECT

SUN Youth Network is a platform that convenes, coordinates and builds capacity of the youth, youth-led and youth-serving organizations to drive the nutrition and food security agenda, for Kenya to be free from malnutrition in all its forms in line with Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development ,agenda 2063 and Scaling up Nutrition (SUN) priorities.

OAY under the Kenya Youth SUN Network seeks to partnerships to scale up a youth coordinated Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) platform under Kenya Scaling Up Nutrition Civil Society Alliance to advocate for better nutrition, capacity build young champions in every sector, run demonstration projects and drive accountability and resources allocation.

Through financial and technical support, we seek to create a robust a platform for coordinated adolescents and youth engagement in nutrition and food security agenda in Kenya. We believe that tapping on the youth and youth organizations networks and skills will accelerate their meaningful involvement in prevention of malnutrition which could be further advance in later stages of lives. Enhancing nutrition knowledge in the youth organizations that seek to reach, access and serve young people, in their diversity, will enhance the ability of such organizations to apply effective strategies for the diverse nutrition and food security needs and situations of those young people.

Project Goal

To provide a platform for meaningful adolescent and youth engagement in the implementation ofyouth-focused nutrition and food security issues in line with the SUN strategy 2021-2025 and related engagements

Project Objective

To support institutionalization of Kenya: Scaling up Nutrition Youth Network to ;

  • Coordinate youth, youth-led, and youth-serving organizations to meaningfully advocate for and drive the nutrition and food security agenda in line with Sustainable Development Goals.

  • Enhance the capacity of youth, Youth-led, and youth-serving organizations on the nutrition agenda and promote learning at different levels.

  • Promote and amplify youth innovations and social enterprises contributing to improved food systems.

  • Promote healthy habits and well-being among the youth.

Achievements so far

To support institutionalization of Kenya: Scaling up Nutrition Youth Network to ;

  • Engagements with the Global SUN Secretariat, SUN Kenya family, and youth organizations on consultations to set up SUN youth engagement mechanisms in Kenya.

  • Participation in SUN and food systems-related decision-making processes and engagements such as Symposiums/conferences ,County engagements and nutrition related key moments .

  • Capacity building of Youth, Youth-serving organizations, and Youth-Led organizations to better advocate for nutrition agenda and participate in decision-making processes.

  • Guided by the action plan, the Network supports youth and youth organizations to engage in food systems-related offline and online engagements.
